It goes without saying that Guemes Island hosts one of the richest herds of blacktail deer in the northwest! so much so, that a little "thinning" is important to ensure healthy breed stock. Unfortunately, there is a type of hunter who disgraces the rest . . . you've seen them . . . they are usually drunk, shoot from their vehicle, and who have little respect or care for the quarry they seek. These are the folks we would prefer just "stay home." The attached picture, however, demonstrates one creative and intelligent means by which a good selection of hunters can be selected for taking island deer (picture & caption by Tim Wittman).
