Guemes Island Caucuses

As confusing as primaries and caucusing can be, Saturday was a good example of state political policy in action.

Allen Bush is the republican PCO for Guemes Island. He reported that about twenty people were involved in the caucus on Saturday 2/9//08. He is one of the delegates going to the County on 3/29/08. A decision is made at that time as to which delegate goes to the State.

Gail Nicolls is the democratic PCO for Guemes Island. She reported that 111 people attended the Democratic caucus. Quite a turnout! More committed to Obama than attended the 2004 caucus, Of the seven that came to the caucus “uncommitted” five switched their support to Obama. Seems as though this was a statewide trend.

Democrats: Obama 7 delegates, Clinton 1

Republicans: McCain 2 delegates, Paul 1
