DRAFT Minutes

The meeting was called to order at 6:35 PM by vice chair Allen Bush.

Board members present: Allen Bush, Gabe Murphy, Jep Burdock, Steve Orsini, Patty Rose and Kathy Malley on Zoom. Absent: board member Michael Brown. Citizen present: Michael Gray.

Approval of February meeting minutes 

Treasurer’s Report: Roz Glasser account balance is $9,156.10 and General Fund is $ 11,366,35.

Public Comment: Michael Gray discussed his experience with the USGS study and the opinions of some of his neighbors on West Beach. There was also discussion of the proposed ferry fare increase.

Updates/ New Business

County Permit Application for additional parking and gravel storage at Youngs Park: GIPAC and other island residents have submitted comments. Now we wait to learn of a hearing date.

Recent well drilling and county responses: GIPAC members will meet with County Commissioners on March 31. 

Peach Preserve Update: While a few  species are thriving, the planting area is inhospitable and has been affected by high tides. Patty reported that WTA is going to widen the trail and committee members suggested that we use that event to draw interest in shoreline restoration. 

Other new business: GICCA has asked about GIPAC interest in replacing the sign on the ferry terminal. It was agreed that our main interest for a sign is to promote water conservation. Gabe and Allen will attend the next GICCA meeting.
