Guemes Island Historical Society Cookbooks

I am the proud owner of two Guemes Island Cookbooks, Favorite Recipes from Guemes Island Cooks, printed in 1962 by the Women’s Recreation Club, and Treasured Island Recipes, printed in the early 1970’s by the Women’s Fellowship of Guemes Island Community Church. The Guemes Island Historical Society is excited to create a new cookbook.

Guemes Islanders, we are asking you to look at your favorite family recipe(s) and share with us! Please include the recipe’s historical significance to you or your family. We will compile the recipes in a similar format and return them for approval. My business partner, Janice Veal and I have written two cookbooks, highlighting San Juan Island family specialties and recipes from fine island restaurants. We have experience in rewriting recipes from individuals and chefs. Depending on how many recipes in each category, we may not be able to include them all, but we will do our best. We plan to include some recipes from the first two cookbooks.

Categories are: Appetizers, Salads, Entrees, Seafood, Vegetables/Side Dishes, Soups, Breakfasts/Breads, Desserts.
